Effective Acupuncture

About Me

imageMy name is Kathleen O'Donnell and I'm and Oriental Medical Practitioner in the Cincinnati area. I have experienced the empowering focus of a medicine that places the whole patient at it's center and will share that with others. I graduated with my Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine San Diego (PCOM) in 2014 and moved to the Ohio in order to expand the culture and presence or Oriental medicine in the area, and to be able to afford a home (have you seen house prices in San Diego?!?!)

My training at PCOM focused on making it's students capable integrated practitioners. The Master's program is 1/3 acupuncture, 1/3 herbology, and 1/3 western medicine, leaving me with a beautifully rounded education that can bridge the current gap between the western healthcare system and the holistic modalities. Because of this high level of education and testing to practice acupuncture in California we are primary care physicians in that state. I don't get to use the title here in Ohio, but I do bring that level of education and excellence with me to my practice.

I am passionate about the idea of medicine being whatever is best for the patient and listening to them to treat their whole self rather than just their complaint. I received my first acupuncture treatment at the age of 13 for back, knee and ankle pain. I refused to run the mile at school because it hurt too much and my mother had the incredible compassion to take me to a place that had helped to heal her hurts as well. I was treated at the clinic at PCOM right alongside my mother who would schedule our treatments at the same time. I went erratically, always going when nothing else seemed to work and I became overwhelmed and depressed.

At the age of 18 I finally got fed up with getting the run around from my primary care, after all the x-rays showed nothing, and  was finally sent to see a specialist. This podiatrist told me that I had done extensive damage to the tendons and nerves in my ankles, had tendinitis running up my legs and that I would be in a wheelchair by 30. I used acupuncture, exercise, and some lifestyle changes to prevent this fate. And it worked. I'm 30 years old and still very much up and moving, I will never again let a single opinion determine my own outlook or prognosis. I determine the outcomes of my treatments just as much as my doctors do and with that understanding and the power my own success story has given me, I will share this medicine with you!

I would be honored to assist you in your journey and provide an environment of exceptional care and honesty for your healing to occur. Please call to schedule an appointment and visit my blog for lots of information on how to be your best Self at http://effectiveacupuncture.my-free.website/
